USK Spain Wochenthema: Bibliotheken und Buchläden

Da ich so viel außer Haus bin, habe ich die Gelegenheit genutzt, meine "Handbibliothek" zu skizzieren, Hand, da in greifbarer Nähe nur mit den Büchern bestückt, die ich oft zur Hand nehme.

Como paso tanto tiempo fuera de casa aprovecho la oportunidad de dibujar mi "biblioteca de mano", mano porque está a mano y sólo equipado con los libros que consulto a menudo.

34th worldwide SketchCrawl

Früh standen wir auf und frühstückten vor dem Treffen in Simons Comic-Buchladen "Sindicato del Cómic" noch im Café Latino. Dort entstand schon die erste Skizze um die Finger aufzuwärmen.

Early in the morning we had breakfast at the "Café Latino" before meeting in Simon's bookstore "Sindicato del Cómic". In the café I made the first sketch to warm up the fingers. 

Am vergangenen 21. Januar trafen wir uns einmal mehr yum gemeinsamen Malen, dieses Mal den bunten und quirligen Marktplatz im Herzen der Stadt. Während in Deutschland das Fleisch kaum als von einem bestimmten Tier stammend erkennbar ist, da bereits vollständig küchenfertig vorbereitet, sieht man hier in Spanien oft das ganze Tier oder zumindest seine Teile: Der Kopf eines Schweines, ein ganzer Hase, der von einem Haken an der Decke baumelt, Hühnchen, Lamm ... und natürlich chorizo!

Die erste Skizze hier ist etwa zwei Wochen zuvor für das Poster und die Pressekonferenz entstanden, auf der wir für unsere Initiative geworben haben.

Last 21st january we met once more to sketch together, this time at the colourful and exciting marketplace in the city centre. While in Germany meat is often barely recognisable, here in Spain you see the whole animal or at least its parts: the had o a pig, a whole bunny hanging from the ceiling, chicken and lamb ... and chorizo, for sure!

The first sketch of this place was made some two weeks before for the poster promoting our event.

Diese Skizzen sind im Inneren der Markthalle entstanden, die nur am Samstagmorgen geöffnet war. Am Nachmittag verstreuten wir uns in der Umgebung des ehrwürdigen Gebäudes zwischen Blumen- und Brotständen.


Hier gibt es noch immer sooo viel zu sehen und zu zeichnen, dass wir bei Zeiten ein weiteres Treffen machen müssen.
Wo sind all die Meeresfrüchte??


These sketches were made inside while the market hall was open in the morning. In the afternoon we sketched the surroundings of the beautiful and emblematic building with its flower stands and bread shops.


There is still sooo much to draw that we have to come back and make another SketchCrawl here.
Where is all the seafood?

Das Wetter war nicht wirklich schlecht, aber recht frisch und ich musste eine ganze Reihe unterschiedlicher Skizzenbücher und -blocks nutzen, weil die Aquarellfarbe einfach nicht trocknen wollte.

Der Obststand unten hat in den Beiträgen der lokalen und regionalen Zeitungen, des Radios und des Galicischen Fernsehens, die über unser Urban Sketchers Treffen berichteten reichlich Werbung genossen. ;)

The weather was not bad but really cold so I had to use a lot of different sketchbooks/blocs because the watercolour wouldn't dry.

This fruit stand was sketched so often that day that it had a lot of publicity in the local papers, radio and television reporting about our urban sketchers meeting. ;)

Los Reyes Magos: Die drei stecken unter einer ... Krone!

Der Dreikönigstag, im protestantischen Norddeutschland fast unbekannt, hier in Spanien Feiertag und noch immer Fest der Gaben, auch wenn Weihnachten langsam aufholt.






Los Reyes Magos, un día nada especial en el protestante norte de Alemania pero aquí en España todavía el día de los regalos ... aunque poco a poco la nochebuena gana terreno.

SketchCrawl in Sevilla

Ein letzter Ferientag in Andalusien und gleichzeitig die erste SketchCrawl in Sevilla. Im Zug wärme ich mich an meinen Mitreisenden auf, mag aber die Farben noch nicht auspacken, es ist wolkig.


Später nehme ich den Bus zum Zentrum, wo mich Inma mit dem Rad abholt - was für ein freudiges Wiedersehen!! Bald sind wir am Treffpunkt, der Cathedrale, angekommen, klönen, lernen uns kennen und fangen nach und nach mit dem Malen an.


The last day of our holidays in Andalucía and at the same time the first SketchCrawl in Sevilla. In the train a make a warm up with my fellow travellers, but don't like to fetch my watercolors, it's cloudy.


Later I take the bus to the centre where Inma fetches me. Soon we get to the meeting point where the others are already sketching, talk a bit, know each other and also start sketching.

Nach dem Mittagessen wird die Gruppe allmählich kleiner und wir ziehen zum Fluss, um das letzte Tageslicht einzufangen. Bei Milchshake und Kaffee lassen wir den herrlichen Tag ausklingen. Wir sind so ins Gespräch und das Malen versunken, dass ich tatsächlich fast den letzten Zug zum Puerto zurück verpasse und Celia und César dankbar bin, dass mich die beiden bis zum Gleis bringen. Ein unvergesslicher letzter Urlaubstag mit so kreativen, engagierten und begeisterten Sketchers - ein fulminanter Abschluss eines tollen Urlaubs! Vielen Dank euch allen =)


After lunch the group gets smaller and we walk to the river to catch the last light of the day. With Milkshake and coffee we spend the last hours of the day together, so lost in talking and sketching that I almost lost the last train back to El Puerto and have to thank Calia and César for bringing me to the train station.
An unforgettable last vacation day with such creative and enthusiastic sketchers - a fulminant end of great vacations! Thanks a lot to all of you =)

Weihnachten in Cádiz / X-mas in Cádiz

 Nachdem die letzten Erledigungen getroffen, die Mitbringsel eingepackt und die Katzen und wir gefüttert sind, geht es los in den Süden.


Die ersten Tage verlaufen ruhig, mit Weihnachtsvorbereitungen und ersten Versuchen im neuen Skizzenbuch. Die Körnung des Papiers lässt die Linie brechen, was einen interessanten Effekt verursacht und feine Abstufungen erlaubt. Und auch ohne Linien (unten) wirkt die Farbe.

After preparing for the journey, putting all the little gifts in the car, feeding the cats (and us) we start our journey to the south.


We pass the first days tranquilly with x-mas preparations and some experiments in the new sketchbook. The structure of the paper creates a nice effect in the lines.


And color only also works great on this kind of paper.

Unser Weihnachtsessen kommt groß und rot auf den Tisch und ich kann der Versuchung nicht widerstehen...


Our x-mas dinner: an invitation to draw ...

An einem schönen Morgen machen wir uns auf nach Cádiz, Kaffee an der Strandprome-nade mit Blick auf den Spielplatz (rechts), ein Abstecher auf den Paseo zum Castillo de San Sebastian mit Blick auf die Altstadt (unten) und anschließend ein Besuch bei David zu ein paar Tapitas am Mittag.
Am Nachmittag werden die Papiervorräte, dieses Mal Arches satiniert 300 g/qm, wieder aufgefüllt. Die nächste Reise kommt bestimmt!

 On a beautiful morning we set out for Cádiz, have an early coffee at the Paseo Marítimo with view over a playground (above), make a short site trip to the Paseo del Castillo de San Sebastián with view over the city centre (right) and visit David afterwards to have some Tapitas for lunch.
In the afternoon I replenish my paper stock, this time Arches satiniert 300g/m2. The next trip will come soon! 

Morgens ist es noch kalt, aber mit Decke ausgerüstet und einer heißen Schokolade in Händen ist es mehr als gut auszuhalten für eine schnelle Skizze der Kathedrale en El Puerto de Santa María (oben). Gegen Mittag machen wir einen kulinarischen Ausflug nach Sanlúcar (unten).

In the morning it's still cold but with a blanket and a hot chocolate in hands it's more than enough comfort for a quick sketch of the cathedral of El Puerto de Santa María (2x above). About midday we make a culinary trip to Sanlúcar (above).

Reisevorbereitungen / Preparaciones para el viaje al sur

Was für eine Vorfreude auf einige Tage im "sommerlichen" Süden Spaniens - die will ausgelebt werden in zünftiger Vorbereitung auf das Malen an der Costa de la Luz.

Das Papier habe ich im Sommer aus Deutschland mitgebracht und nun findet es endlich Anwendung: Sketchbook "Arches" grain fin, 185g/qm, 29x41cm)

Meine Nähmaschine schnurrt zufrieden vor Glück! Und für unseren nächsten Buchbinde-Workshop muss Musterkarton nachbestellt werden!

In preparation of some vacation days in southern Spain I prepare a new sketchbook with paper I bought in Germany last summer: "Arches" grain fin, 185g/qm, 29x41cm)

My sewing machine makes a good job with the cardboard - have to order more for our next bookbinding workshop!
